Experienced and professional photographers know that using the right equipment for a job can make a huge difference to the result. And if you’ve been struggling to get what you want with a smartphone, maybe it’s time to consider a mirrorless camera from Fujifilm.
While smartphone cameras are good, technically and creatively a mirrorless camera with a larger sensor is much better, helping your photos stand out from the crowd.
The simplest mirrorless camera design is embodied in the Fujifilm X100VI. Small, light and pocketable, it has a single 23mm wide-angle lens, just like a smartphone, but with its APS-C size sensor (over 20 times larger than an average smartphone sensor), it produces professional quality photographs and video for all occasions.
However, if you want to take your photography to new levels, check out one of Fujifilm’s interchangeable lens X-series cameras. Also small, light and compact, models like the new X-M5, X-T50, X-T5 and X-H2 accept a wide range of interchangeable lenses that will expand your horizons. You can choose lenses with wide-apertures for working in low light conditions; ultra wide-angle lenses for capturing huge vistas and intimate interiors; or long telephoto lenses to get in close for sport and wildlife. And you get to select the lenses you need for the types of photographs and videos you want to produce.
Special mention must go to the latest Fujifilm X-M5 – which is incredibly small and lightweight. As you can see in the photo, it is positively tiny! Although perfect for stills photography, the X-M5 is also equipped with high-performance video recording functions such as 6.2K/30P 4:2:2 10-bit internal recording. And the trick to great video is a stable image with excellent sound, so the X-M5 includes a powerful digital image stabiliser and a high quality, built-in microphone. There’s also a new "9:16 Short Movie Mode" which, along with the X-M5’s open gate (full sensor) recording means you can shoot once and reformat for different social media platforms later.
There’s no down side when it comes to using a Fujifilm X-series mirrorless camera. They can be as easy to use as your smartphone - just turn them on and press the shutter button. And their high quality photos can be sent from the camera wirelessly to your smartphone for instant uploading or posting.
Best of all, the Fujifilm X-series cameras give you the opportunity to play with many creative controls, from the aperture, shutter speed, ISO, frame rate, exposure compensation and selective focusing. Fujifilm also has a range of wonderful film simulations that provide your work with different moods and styles.
And if you really want to take your photography to the ultimate, check out the Fujifilm GFX large format range. With a large sensor up to 100-megapixels, you’ll already know if this is where you want to take your photography.
So, which Fujifilm camera is right for you? While all the X-series cameras shoot both stills and video, we’d suggest the new X-M5 or X-H2 if your interest favours video, while the X-T5 is great for stills. Or if you’re on a budget, check out the X-T50 as it has all the essential features of the X-T5 and you lose nothing in creativity.
Photography and videography today are incredibly fun – and even more so with a Fujifilm X series mirrorless camera.
